Germans are funny? Thats the joke within itself. They are probably known to be some of the most serious and grumpy people on earth. If thats true for me and my closest people around me? Hopefully not.
However there is a certain seriousness about Germans and also a little bit of a melancholy and heaviness. I´m sure it comes from the difficult war times in the first half of the 20. century and even the times after when it was occupied by the US Americans, French, British and Russians,
Actually the architecture, art, music and people are still a reflection of that time till this day.
Aside from a seriousness, Germans are known to be reliable, practical, structured, punctual and like routines. That I can most certainly agree on and I have to say these are values, that I always miss when I´m abroad. However as much as these qualities are true for the people, it is definitely not true for the system and politics anymore as everything has ben going downhill in the last decades. Political and financial scandals as well as bad money politics have decreased the quality of the health sector, education, public transport and infrastructure. (Please note here that this is my observation and maybe not the one of some other people)
And as in many places in the world, Germany also has a housing crisis with rent prices having more than tripled in the last years. Finding an apartment in Berlin atm, is as probable as seeing an alien. The inflation with ages that do not raise, for many people the situation has become difficult. What I can observe from my calculations is that the prices went up around 20% in just one year.
But let´s stop focussing on the negatives for a moment and point out a few things.

What I really value and appreciate on Germany:
-Amazing Techno culture
-Lots of beautiful forests
-Big and thriving art and museum landscape
-Mostly free college education
-Very safe (also for women)
-Good grocery and drogerie shops
-Natural beauty ideals
-Big organic food scene
-Big vegan population
-Bodypositive culture
-Brezels

What is actually funny about Germans
-Love cash
-Hate spending money
-Love saving money
-Love to sunburn on Mallorca
-Love Sprudl (sparkling water)
-Can´t go long without dark bread
-Their favourite words are: Echt, Genau, Alles klar
-German language has 3 genders for things but there is only male / female for Humans
-Socks in Sandals
-Go out like summer with only one ray of sun but still 0 degrees
-The cheaper the better. No matter the quality.
-Discounters all come from Germany: Aldi, Lidl, Netto. The cheaper the better.
-Men don´t know how to flirt
What I don´t like about Germany:
-BUROCRACY (Its the biggest nightmare! Even people working in that field don´t understand the system anymore)
-Too many laws and regulations
-Apartment rent prices are out of control
-People being frustrated and grumpy
-Trains: always late or not coming
-Doctors: Never free appointments
-The traditional food: Meat and potatoes and Kraut
-Melancholic Movies
-War movies
Conclusion:
As much as I sometimes hate on Germany, compared to many other places in the world, it is still a fairly nice place to live (in Summer)
For me its a bit a love hate relationship, but mostly I appreciate the people here. There is something very grounded and reliable about them. If you make a German friend, you have them for a lifetime. The quality of conversations and depth of topics is like nowhere else in the world I found.
If you plan to visit Germany, lmk on Instagram how you feel about it!
