Food and Drinks are an inherent part of culture and lifestyle in almost all places around the world.

Eating habits and food choices tell a lot about the mentality of people and the way they see life.

As a Consecutive Appetite (eating very clean, pure and extremely simple) , I feel mostly very limited by the options I get represented, however I always try to stay open and at least try new things. My sensitive stomach usually has to pay the bill afterwards, but sometimes its worth it.

Having taste and smell as my strongest senses though, I have always been curious about food in general and the historical background stories of it. If you are like me in that regard and you don´t know the show Chefs Table yet, I highly recommend watching it.

As all our culinary tastes are unique and we have a very distinct way of eating according to our Human Design, I can only give you my perspective on it. See if it inspires you or if it doesn't resonate with you.

If your Human Design Digestion Type is also Consecutive or Alternating Appetite, I can highly recommend you to get my guide on it, for a donation of your choice. Get in tough through IG or Mail.

BALI:

When on Bali you won´t get around stopping on a local Warung which translates means Imbiss or snackbar. It is basically a buffet with many traditional dishes and you can pay per plate or per portion. Its incdedible cheap to eat this way and you´ll only spend between 3-6€ for a very satisfying meal. Also perfect for Consecutive or Alternating Appetite, because you can arrange the foods seperately on the plate and choose only simple and few dishes.

In more touristic areas, there are many vegan and vegetarian options, whereas the more local ones usually have meat and fish as well. Specifically for the beginning and / or if you cannot handle spicy foods, I´d rather go to the touristic ones, so you avoid the "Bali Belly"

ISTANBUL:

Simits are one of the culinary trademarks of Turkey and specifically Istanbul is known for its little mobile stands that pop up in every neighbourhood in the morning hours and offer the freshly baked sesame rings. They might appear similar to a bagel, but definitely have a specific taste about them. Make sure not to come too late or ask if they are freshly baked, as they get hard and dry quickly when they rest too long. A traditional way of eating them in one of the many breakfast houses, would be with white cheese, olives, tomato or jam and cheese. I would usually prepare them at home though and choose the savoury version, also adding arugula and grilled veggies on top. For more info on Istanbul in general check out my article HERE

MELBOURNE:

There is quite a big Sri Lankan population in Melbourne, which is also represented in the culinary landscape. There are many Sri Lankan all you can eat buffet places for only 20-25€.

Besides vegan and vegetarian dishes, there are also meat and fish offers available. I would say its not something for an everyday experience, but certainly good for meeting with a bunch of people with different tastes and preferences. BERLIN:

Berlin is one the vegan capitals of the world. No other place has more options and purely vegan restaurants of all kinds for affordable prices. Almost each restaurant has adapted by now and a broad selection of dishes on their menu. If you are in town, yo should make use of that, no matter if you're vegan or not. You might be surprised by the creativity of the dishes. Even the supermarkets and drugstores hold many vegan spreads, meat replacements and snacks. Apart from vegan food, you have to check out a German bakery and try one of the pastries, Brezeln or dark bread. Usually thats what Germans miss the most when abroad; for good reason. I personally love a fresh Brezel with veggies and coffee for breakfast. For more information on Berlin check out my article HERE

NYC:

An absolute must have are the bagels in NYC. Partly because its tasty, and also because it´s affordable compared to many other options. The offers range from streetfood trucks, to cornershop, up to high class bagels. You will have the choice of a savoury or sweet base, followed by many different spreads and toppings. As the typical New Yorker never has time, the preparation of this typical food is fast, easy and everywhere available. My favourite was always the sesame seed, cream cheese, tomato, cucumber bagel. MEXIKO:

I´m sure you already know what I´m about to write here. Of course Mexiko if famous for its Tortillas. Depending on their size and serving, the dish will be called differently. So lets clarify a few things here.

Taco: Small soft tortillas with fillings

Burrito: Big soft tortilla rolled up with filling

Fajita: Tortilla served on the side with sizzling dish

Empanada: Fried folded tortilla with fillings

Nacho: Fried small tortilla pieces, often with cheese

Quesadilla: Big soft tortilla folded with melted cheese

Enchilada: Big soft tortillas rolled with filling and baked with sauce

In the end we always have the same core ingredients, just the preparation will vary. And Mexicans never get sick of their tortillas! Traditionally its made from corn flour, but with the US American influence, wheat tortillas have been on the rise as well. Specifically in more touristic areas.

When I lived in Mexiko for the first time in 2005-2006 it was impossible to find vegetarian options, but now in almost every bigger town, you can find at least one vegetarian restaurant. Personally, I always cooked myself a nice veggie wok with Guacamole (avocado smash) and wheat tortillas on the side.
